Impaired Driver On July 12, 2026, at 2:55 a.m., Belleville Police conducted a traffic stop in the area of College Street East and Cannifton Road. Officers spoke with the female driver and observed signs of impairment. Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 108 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on July 9, 2026 to 5:00 am on July 10, 2026. Weapons On July 9, 2026, at 9:32 p.m., Belleville Police responded to a call in the city’s east end regarding an individual in possession of a firearm. Upon arrival, it was reported that a physical altercation had occurred between two individuals, during which a third male intervened and pointed a firearm at the involved individuals. All three parties then fled the scene on foot. Officers reviewed video surveillance and observed the suspect in possession of a firearm prior to fleeing. Officers located the male a short distance away; however, did not locate a firearm. Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 101 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on July 8, 2026 to 5:00 am on July 9, 2026. Barricaded Person On July 8, 2026, Belleville Police attended a call for service at a residence in the city’s west end. It was reported that an individual attended a male’s residence and knocked on the door, however, the male refused to open it and screamed that he had a knife and was going to kill everyone.  Upon police arrival, officers attempted to contact the male. He continued to refuse to open the door and made repeated threats to kill everyone, as he was armed with a knife. At approximately 3:30 p.m., members of the Belleville Police Emergency Response Unit and negotiators were requested, and containment was established. Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 102 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on July 7, 2026 to 5:00 am on July 8, 2026. West End Dispute Leads to Arrest On July 7, 2026, at approximately 12:10 p.m., Belleville Police attended a residence in the city’s west end regarding a tenant dispute. Upon arrival, officers learned that two residents were in the yard when a male tenant began yelling at them from an upper staircase. The male then spat at one of the individuals and subsequently broke a compact disc (CD), throwing fragments toward them. Upon initial police response, the male remained inside his residence and did not exit in response to officers’ attempts to effect an arrest. At 3:03 p.m., police re-attended the residence after the same male involved in the earlier incident contacted dispatch repeatedly despite not reporting any emergency.

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 85 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on July 6, 2026 to 5:00 am on July 7, 2026. Theft On May 27, 2026, Belleville Police investigated a report of a theft from a business on Bell Boulevard. The store manager reported that two individuals attended the location and departed without paying for merchandise. Officers reviewed surveillance footage and identified the suspects; however, they were unable to locate them at that time. Arrest warrants were subsequently obtained for both individuals. On July 6, 2026, it was reported that one of the individuals had returned to the business. As a result, Meagan Ferguson, 32-year-old Belleville woman of no fixed address, was arrested on the strength of the outstanding warrant for theft under $5,000 and failing to comply with a probation order X2. Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 315 calls for service beginning at 6:00 am on July 3, 2026 to 5:00 am on July 6, 2026. Impaired, wandering through yards Late in the evening of Friday July 3, police were called to an area of Bridge Street East after several neighbours spotted a male wandering through the backyards of several residences. Officers arrived shortly before 11 p.m. and found a man passed out on the front steps of a home in the 300 block of Bridge Street East. The male, who was intoxicated, became combative when officers disturbed his slumber. The 44-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place and held at the Belleville Police Service until sober.
