Belleville Police Focus on Vehicle Safety During Modified Vehicle Inspections

BELLEVILLE, ON – Belleville Police are stepping up efforts to keep roads safe by focusing on modified vehicles. Over the coming weeks, officers will be conducting inspections to ensure that vehicle modifications do not compromise driver ability or put others at risk. Vehicle modifications in Ontario must comply with the Highway Traffic Act and provincial safety standards. Modifications that fail to meet these standards can result in fines, vehicle towing, or license plate seizure. Officers will be paying particular attention to common concerns, including: Exhaust systems: Excessively loud or improperly modified exhausts that create noise disturbances. Suspension and ride height: Lifts over 2 inches or unsafe suspension modifications that affect vehicle stability and roadworthiness. Lighting: Headlights, taillights, and other vehicle lighting must meet visibility and safety standards. Belleville Police Supports Loyalist College Students “Eyes Up Belleville” Initiative to Combat Distracted Driving

BELLEVILLE, ON – Loyalist College students are leading a community safety initiative called “Eyes Up Belleville”. The campaign, delivered under Parachute Canada in partnership with the Children’s Safety Village of Belleville, aims to reduce distracted driving in the city.
