190 Years of Service

In 2026, the Belleville Police Service is celebrating 190 years service on June 18th, 2026.

Glanmore National Historic Site Exhibit

Opening May 12th, 190 Years of the Belleville Police Service features historic artifacts and explores the evolution of policing in Belleville. The exhibit runs until September 13th at 257 Bridge St. E. More information is available at glanmore.ca.

 

Launching May 12th, a new downtown walking tour highlights former police headquarters with historic photos and interpretive panels. Printed maps will be available at the Community Policing Office, 211 Front St. The walking tour will be available throughout 2026.

On the official 190th anniversary of BPS, we invite residents to join us for an Open House. Receive a guided tour of our headquarters and learn about our specialized units. Time slots available; registration is required. Stay tuned for more details.

Opening May 12th, the Community Archives of Belleville and Hastings County will showcase archival records and photographs related to the Belleville Police Service. This exhibit runs until June 30th at 254 Pinnacle St. More information is available at cabhc.ca. 

Leading up to and beyond June 18th, The Belleville Police Service will share historical facts and stories on social media celebrating our long history of service.

Commemorative items, including challenge coins and die-cast police car will be made available for purchase.

A specially commissioned book, published by the Hastings County Historical Society, chronicles 190 years of the Belleville Police Service. At over 200 pages with approximately 100 photos, it features detailed histories, 600 names of policemen, magistrates, mayors, and a few infamous criminals, as well as stories of bravery, daily life, and humorous moments. The book will be available for purchase.
