Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 88 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on the 5th of October, 2022, to 5:00 am on the 6th of October, 2022.

Assault with a weapon

On 5 October, 2022, at 10:45am, police were called to a north end address to assist EMS after a 911 call was received that a male had been stabbed. On arrival, police were advised that several people were involved a fight resulting in a 37-year-old male being stabbed, and female suffering injuries from a dog bite. Both victims were treated at Belleville General Hospital and later released. Police arrested two 19-year-old Belleville males who were involved, and after further investigation, one of the males was charged with assault with a weapon. He held in custody for a bail hearing on 6 October 2022. The other male was released unconditionally.

On 5 October, 2022, at 21:45pm, police received a call to area of the Bayshore Trail regarding an assault. A female had called advising that she was sitting on a bench when a male had come up behind her, pushed her to the ground, and threatened her with a knife. The male was described as having a black or dark blue hoodie and sweatpants. The K9 Unit searched the area for the suspect who had fled toward George Street and then to Dundas Street East. Anyone who may have observed the described male is asked to contact the Belleville Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
