On the 2nd of November 2022, at 4:30 pm Belleville Police attended the Belleville Public Library regarding a male who had a knife. Officers arrived on the scene and were confronted by the male. The male was safely disarmed and taken into custody. As a result, 61-year-old Ernest Haughton, of no fixed address, was charged with having a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of probation. Haughton was held until he was sober and released with a court date on December 8th, 2022.
