The Belleville Police Service responded to 78 calls for service from November 20th, 2020 at 5:00 a.m. to November 21st, 2020 at 5:00 a.m.

Arrested on Warrants

Belleville, ON – November 20th, 2020 – 10:00 a.m.

Belleville Police officers picked up an adult female this date on an outstanding warrant.  34-year-old, Vanessa Brunke of Belleville was charged with one count of Failing to Comply with an Undertaking Condition made before a Justice.  The accused was released on her own recognizance and is scheduled to attend court on December 17th, 2020 to answer to her charge. 

Belleville, ON – November 20th, 2020 – 11:30 a.m.

A city police officer conducted a traffic stop on North front St. at Strachan St.  The officer identified the driver as a known person who had an outstanding warrant with the Belleville Police.

41-year-old, Kier Maracle of Belleville was arrested and charged with one count of Failing to Comply with an Undertaking Order.  Mr. Maracle was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in court on December 17th, 2020 to answer to his charge. 

Belleville, ON – November 20th, 2020 – 9:00 p.m.

City officers were in the area of the Quinte Courthouse when they spotted a male looking suspicious on a bicycle.  When the male noticed the police were attempting to speak with him, he took off on his bicycle northbound on Cedar St.  Officers pursued the suspect who refused to stop for the officers.  The suspect was captured shortly thereafter by police on Cedar St at Catherine St and was identified and found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest. 

45-year-old, Dale Green of Belleville was charged with one count of Failing to Comply with a release order.  The accused was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in court on December 7th, 2020 to answer to his charge. 

Belleville, ON – November 20th, 2020 – 11:30 p.m.

A Belleville police officer was in the area of Murney St. and Henry St. in the South end of the city when he noticed a male who was known to him to have an outstanding warrant.  The officer took the male into custody without incident.

23-year-old, Jacob Stanzel of Belleville was charged with one count of Failing to Attend for Fingerprinting in relation to a previous criminal charge.  The accused was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to attend court on December 10th, 2020 to answer to his charge. 

Theft Under $5000

Belleville, ON – November 20th, 2020 – 8:30 p.m.

On November 18th, 2020, the Belleville Police investigated a theft that occurred at a business in the south east end of the city.  A store employee advised officers on the occurrence date that she knew the accused and provided his identification.  The accused is known to the Belleville Police. 

Police contacted the accused who agreed to turn himself in.  On November 20th, 2020 at 8:30 p.m., the accused, 28-year-old, Chris Gray of Belleville was arrested and charged by police for one count of Theft under $5000.  The accused was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in court on December 17th, 2020 to answer to his charge. 

Breach of Release Conditions

Belleville, ON – November 20th, 2020 – 9:00 p.m.

Belleville Police dispatched received a call regarding a male at a residence of his former spouse which was a breach of his bail condition in relation to a previous domestic charge.  When officers arrived on scene, they located the suspect on the property and took him into custody. 

A 59-year-old Belleville man was charged with one count of Fail to Comply with a Release Order.  The accused went into medical distress with some breathing difficulty.  Officers immediately contacted City EMS who attended the scene and treated the accused.  The accused was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to attend court on December 7th, 2020 to answer his charge. 

The accused name is not being released to protect the identity of the victim with regards to the original domestic charge. 

Vehicle Pursuit

Belleville, ON – November 21st, 2020 - 12:30 a.m.

Belleville Police attempted to stop a motor vehicle heading southbound on Sidney St. that was driving in an erratic manner.  When the officer activated the patrol vehicle emergency lights, the suspect vehicle took off at a high rate of speed and proceeded eastbound on Bridge St W. 

Officers decided to discontinue the vehicle pursuit shortly thereafter in the interest of public/pedestrian safety.  The suspect vehicle was described as a four-door grey sedan.  Officers were unable to determine a make or model due to the high speeds.  The suspect vehicle was last observed heading west on Moira St W.
