Break and Enters
Belleville, ON – Police were called to three separate occurrences of break, enter and thefts within the previous 24 hours. On November 10th 2020 at 10:30 a.m., officers responded to a residence on Yeomans Street for a reported garage break-in. An investigation revealed that a quantity of lumber, tools, and cleaning solutions were stolen. The investigation is continuing. At 11:13 a.m. police were called to a business on Dundas Street East for another reported break and enter. Responding officers were informed of a yard fence which had been cut. Entry was gained by unknown person(s) and roofing materials including shingles and underlay in excess of $5,000.00. was stolen. The investigation is continuing. At 12:17 p.m. this same date, police responded to more break and enters into two sheds and a garage on the far end of Dundas Street East. This investigation revealed that entry gained into the structures occurred between November 7th and the morning of November 10th. Police were still investigating these, and a determination of property stolen was not yet available. Thefts from Motor Vehicles
Belleville, ON – On November 10th 2020 between 10:34 a.m. and 11:40 a.m., police received reports of four thefts from motor vehicles during the night. These occurred in the areas of Marsh Drive, Gordon Street, Olive Street and Ritchie Avenue. All four vehicles were entered without damage. Stolen was some loose change (coins), and all had their glove-compartments rummaged through. Disturbing the Peace Results in Arrest
Belleville, ON – On November 10th 2020 at 3:55 p.m., police responded to a complaint of a public disturbance in the area of the Bay of Quinte Yacht Club. Investigating officers located an adult male and an adult female involved in the matter. No injuries or damage was reported, but the male, a 54-year old from the city was taken into custody on breaching a court-ordered condition from a previous undertaking. The man is being held in custody pending a video-hearing on the morning of November 11th. His name is not being released in order to protect the identity of the involved female.
Motor Vehicle Collisions Results in Charges
Belleville, ON – On November 10th 2020 at 3:26 p.m., police were called to a motor vehicle collision involving two motorists at the intersection of College Street East and Moira Street East. Damage was moderate, and there was no report of any personal injuries. A 32-year old city man was charged with the offence of “failing to surrender driver’s licence” under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act. On November 10th 2020 at 5:01 p.m., police were called to a motor vehicle collision in the Dundas Street West and Wallbridge-Loyalist Road area. No injuries were reported, but one vehicle suffered extreme rear-end damage after being struck. This investigation resulted in an 18-year old Brighton – Ontario woman being charged with the offence of “careless driving” under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act. Traffic Enforcement
Belleville, ON – On November 10th 2020 at 9:09 p.m., an officer on patrol observed and stopped a suspected prohibited driver in the area of North Front Street and College Street West. Further investigation revealed the driver, a 34-year old city man, to be in contravention of numerous Highway Traffic Act offences. The man was charged with the following:
- using plates not authorized
- driving under suspension
- driving without insurance
The involved motor vehicle was towed from the location, and the man was released on part 3 summonses to appear in Provincial Offences Court on December 7th.
