The Belleville Police Service responded to 60 calls for service from the 5th of May 2020 at 5:00 a.m. to the 6th of May 2020 at 5:00 a.m.
Attempt Theft from a Motor Vehicle & Breach of Bail Recognizance
Belleville ON – On May 5th, 2020 at approximately 5:30 p.m., city police were called to a residence in the Octavia Street area in regards to a theft in progress and a male suspect who was seen going through a motor vehicle. City officers arrived on scene quickly and were able to arrest the suspect.
Twenty-seven-year-old, Aaron Edwards of Belleville was charged with one count of attempt Theft Under $5000 from a Motor Vehicle and three counts of Breach of Probation. None of the items were damaged or taken in the attempt theft and Mr. Edwards will attend the Belleville Ontario Court of Justice on June 25th, 2020 to answer to his charges.
Robbery, Assault
Belleville ON – On May 6th, 2020 at approximately 12:30 a.m., two city officers were patrolling in a South West residential area when they came across a robbery in progress. A 30-year-old Belleville man was assaulted, robbed and left unconscious in the street. The victim was taken to Belleville General Hospital to treat his injuries which are unknown at this time. A short time later, more officers descended on the area and three suspects were located and taken into custody.
This investigation is still currently active and no other details are available at this time.
