Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 83 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on the 26th of May, 2022 to 5:00 am on the 27th of May, 2022.

Assault Bodily Harm/Assault with a Weapon

On May 26th, 2022, at 8:34 pm, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) contacted Belleville Police requesting officers to attend a West End Belleville, Ontario residence regarding an assault involving two men in which one was struck in the head with a baseball bat.  Officers arrived on the scene and located a male with a serious head wound.  The victim was transported to Belleville General Hospital. The victim is still being evaluated at Belleville General Hospital to determine the extent of his injuries. Investigation into the incident led to the arrest of a fifty-year-old male Belleville, Ontario resident. The male was charged with Assault with a Weapon and Assault Bodily Harm and is being held for a show cause hearing on the 27th of May, 2022.

Domestic Mischief

On May 27th, 2022, at 3:15 pm, Belleville Police received a call to an east-end residence regarding a disturbance.  Officers arrived on the scene and learned that an intoxicated male had broken several items within the residence. The male had left in a vehicle prior to police arrival.  Officers searched the area and located the vehicle on North Front Street in Belleville, Ontario, a short time later.  The thirty-four-year-old Belleville, Ontario resident, was taken into custody for one count of domestic mischief.  The male was transported to Belleville Police Service and released later with a court date of June 27th, 2022, in Belleville. The male’s name is not being released to protect the victim’s identity.
