Breach of Recognizance/Fraud Charges
Belleville ON, In August 2019 a break and enter occurred into a business on Highland Ave. and a number of cheques were taken. On 02 May 2020 a male attempted to cash one of these cheques at a cash chequing business. Video was obtained by police and the male identified. On 23 may 2020 at 02:00 a.m. officers observed a vehicle on Dundas St. E. without taillights. Officers stopped the vehicle and observed the driver, who they knew had conditions on him from a prior incident to be on a recognizance. Collin Kaseke a 47 yr. old male from Stirling was arrested and charged with one count of breach of recognizance by being out past his curfew. He was released on an undertaking with a court date of 16 July 2020. The passenger was identified and Darryl Verner a 37 yr. old Belleville male. He was the male in the video cashing the stolen cheque. He was arrested and charged with one count of fraud under $5000.00 dollars, one count of uttering a forged document, one count of possession of property obtained by crime, and two counts of breaching his probation. He was also released on an undertaking with a court date of 16 July 2020.
Mischief
Belleville ON, On 22 May 2020 at 10:00 p.m. police received a call about a break and enter in progress at an address on Moira St. W. When officer arrived, officers located a broken window and a male in the residence in the kitchen soaking wet. The homeowner was in the residence. The male was arrested for break and enter and mischief. Officers received information that the male had been bear sprayed after a fight with some friends. He had broken into the residence to try and cool his face. As a result, Michael Witherden a Belleville male was only charged with one count of mischief and one count of breach of probation. He was released with a court date of July 16 2020.
