Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 60 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on the 2nd of March, 2022 to 5:00 am on the 3rd of March, 2022.

Breach of Release Conditions

On the 2nd of March, 2022 at 8:30 pm Belleville Police observed a male on a bike in the area of Gordon Street Belleville, Ontario. Police recognized the male as Cecil Merkley, a twenty-eight-year-old Belleville, Ontario resident. A records check indicated that he was on a release condition to be with his surety at all times. He was on his own and subsequently arrested.  Merkley was charged with one count of failing to comply with a release order. He was later released with a court date of the 7th of April 2022.

Arrest on Warrants.

On the 3rd of March, 2022 at 12:50 am while on patrol Belleville Police observed a female on a bike in the area of Pinnacle Street and Victoria Street Belleville, Ontario. The female was stopped for failing to have proper lighting. A records check indicated that there was a warrant for her for failing to appear for fingerprints, and failing to appear in court. As a result, twenty-seven-year-old Belleville, Ontario resident Victorya Ladoucer was arrested and held for a bail hearing on the 3rd of March 2022.

Metal Theft

The Belleville Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance regarding a metal theft. On the 23rd of Feb 2022 at 11:10 pm unknown suspects were caught on video in the rear yard of a business on College Street East Belleville, Ontario. The suspects were observed removing approx.15,000 dollars of stainless-steel sheets. The investigation is continuing.
