Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 181 calls for service over the weekend beginning at 5:00 am on the 26th of March, 2022 to 5:00 am on the 28th of March, 2022.

Impaired & Operation of Motor Vehicle Over 80

On March 25, 2022 at 11:23pm, the Belleville Police received a call of a possible impaired driver in the west end of the city.  Officers located the suspect vehicle and stopped it on Moira Street West.  The investigative stop resulted in a female driver being arrested for impaired driving.  The accused was transported back to the Belleville police station where she provided samples of her breath for analysis.  The accused, 38-year-old, Jodi Love of Belleville was charged for Impaired Driving and Operation of a Motor Vehicle Over 80mgs.  The accused was released with a future court date of April 28, 2022.

Drug & Weapon Possession

On March 26, 2022 at 12:00am, a Belleville police officer stopped a vehicle on Cannifton Road for a seatbelt violation.  The driver was found to be a suspended driver and was subsequently arrested.  A quantity of cocaine and methamphetamine were located on the driver along with a canister of bear mace and brass knuckles. 

Further investigation revealed that a second passenger had an outstanding warrant out of Toronto with Toronto Police Service and was arrested.  Police searched the vehicle locating more quantities of cocaine, unmarked packs of marijuana, and approximately $2000 in cash along with other items consistent with drug trafficking. 

A third occupant of the vehicle was arrested for drug charges. 

35-year-old Pamela Barnes of Belleville was charged with the following Criminal Code offences;

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, Cocaine, CDSA
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, Methamphetamine, CDSA
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, CCC

Ms. Barnes was also charged with numerous Provincial Offences Act violations.  She was released on her own recognizance and scheduled to appear in court on April 25, 2022 in Belleville. 

29-year-old, Andrew Gonsalves of Belleville was charged with the following criminal charges;

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, Cocaine, CDSA
  • Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime, CCC

Mr. Gonsalves was held for a bail hearing on March 26, 2022.  He remained in custody and will appear in court on March 28, 2022. 

22-year-old, Jordon Grant-Cole of Toronto was charged with the following criminal charges;

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, Cocaine, CDSA
  • Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime, CCC

Mr. Grant-Cole was held for a bail hearing on March 26, 2022.  He remained in custody and will appear in court on March 28, 2022. 

Armed Robbery

On March 27, 2022 at 5:08pm, a male suspect entered a convenience store on Victoria Avenue and presented a large kitchen-style knife to the store clerk and demanded cash from the register.  Cash and cigarettes were turned over to the suspect by the store employee and the suspect fled the scene quickly on a red mountain bike, northbound on Ann Street.  There were no injuries.

Impaired Driving

On March 27, 2022 at 9:10pm, city police received a complaint of an erratic driver in the mall parking lot on Bell Boulevard.  Police arrived, located and arrested the suspect driver for impaired driving.  The accused, 44-year-old Sarah Hippern of Picton was taken to the Belleville police station where she provided samples of her breath for analysis.  Ms. Hippern was subsequently charged with Impaired Driving and Operation of a Motor Vehicle Over 80mg.  The accused was released on her own recognizance and will appear in Belleville court on April 14, 2022.
