The Belleville Police Service responded to 49 calls from March 27th 2021 at 5:00 a.m. to March 28th 2021 at 5:00 a.m.

Sexual Assault

Belleville, ON – The Belleville Police Service received a complaint alleging a sexual assault which had occurred on the west side of the city on March 24th 2021 involving a female victim. 

As a result of an investigation by members of the Uniform Division, 39-year old city resident Brandon James Spence was arrested on March 27th and taken into custody.  Spence has been charged with one count of sexual assault.  He has been released from custody on a Form 10 Undertaking with conditions, and is expected to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on April 29th 2021 at 9:00 a.m.

No further details will be released in order to protect the identity of the victim.

Arrested on Warrants

Belleville, ON – On March 27th 2021 at 7:55 p.m., police patrolling the Front Street area came across a woman wanted on outstanding arrest warrants.  Police confirmed the warrants, and arrested the woman without further incident.  41-year old city resident Louise Marie Hall was taken into custody and held at the Belleville Police Service on charges of theft – under five thousand dollars (two counts), and three counts of failing to attend court as directed.  Hall was held in custody, and is to appear before the weekend and statutory holiday court on the morning of March 28th
