Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 55 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on the 7th of June, 2022 to 5:00 am on the 8th of June, 2022.

Motor Vehicle Collisions

On the 7th of June, 2022 during heavy rainfall in the city of Belleville, Police responded to nine motor vehicle collisions. There were no serious injuries reported. One charge for “Fail to drive in marked Lane” of the Highway Traffic Act was laid after a vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole on Cannifton Road, North Belleville, Ontario. Police remind motorists to slow down and drive according to weather and road conditions.

Unwanted Person

On the 7th of June, 2022, at 9:45 pm, Belleville Police were called to the Belleville General Hospital for a female refusing to leave hospital property after being discharged.  Police attended, and the female ran into traffic on Dundas Street East Belleville, Ontario. The female was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place and held at the Belleville Police Service until she was sober enough to care for herself.

Male arrested for multiple incidents

Between October 2021 and April 2022, Belleville Police received 26 separate complaints regarding thefts from motor vehicles. In many of the incidents, the suspect broke windows to remove valuables from vehicles parked in commercial parking lots. Belleville Police were able to identify the suspect and his vehicle, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On the 6th of June, 2022, Nicholas Kerr, thirty-eight of Napanee, Ontario, was arrested by the OPP ROPE squad on the following charges:

  1. Two counts of break and enter
  2. Six counts of Fraud under $5000
  3. Ten counts of mischief under $5000
  4. Nine counts of possession of property obtained by crime
  5. Seven counts of theft of a credit card
  6. Ten counts of theft from a motor vehicle.

Kerr was held for a bail hearing on the 7th of June, 2022.
