Belleville Police Service responded to 67 calls for service from the 28th of July 2020 at 5:00 a.m. to the 29th of July 2020 at 5:00 a.m.

 

Impaired Driving Charge

Belleville, Ontario – On the 27th of July at 8:00 a.m. Police, while on general patrol, observed a vehicle driving erratically on Dundas Street West. Police conducted a traffic stop and an investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle was impaired by drug. The driver was identified as 56-year-old Belleville man, Darko Zeljkovic, who was released from the Belleville Police Service just hours prior to the stop; on charges of Impaired Driving.  Mr. Zeljkovic was charged a second time with Operation while Impaired by drugs, and is being held at the Belleville Police Service for a bail hearing.

 

Disturbance Results in Charges

Belleville, Ontario – On the 27th of July at 11:30 p.m. Police responded to the area of North Front Street regarding a male brandishing a knife to vehicles as they passed by. Police attended the area and located the suspect male where an investigation ensued. As a result, 34-year-old Belleville man Tyler Colley, was arrested and charged with Weapons Dangerous. He was transported to the Belleville Police Service where he was later released on an Undertaking where he was given a Court date of August 27th 2020 to face the charges.

 

City Police also report a fairly steady 24-hour period ending at 5:00 a.m. on July 29th   2020.  Police did respond to several incidents that ended peacefully with Police intervention. Those incidents included numerous noise complaints, disturbances, domestics, suspicious persons and vehicles, traffic complaints, neighbour and family disputes, animal complaints, and calls to assist ambulance.
