Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 180 calls for service over the weekend beginning at 5:00 am on the 16th of July, 2022 to 5:00 am on the 18th of July, 2022.

Arrest on Warrant

On July 16, 2022, at 1:00am, Belleville Police were on a traffic stop on Bell Blvd. when a bystander approached advising the officers of an erratic driver.  The officers observed the vehicle pointed out to them in which they observed the vehicle strike another vehicle.  Police stopped the erratic driver and found the operator to have two outstanding warrants for her arrest for breaches. 

29-year-old Stephanie Gallagher of Belleville was arrested on her warrants and was held for a video show cause hearing.  The accused will appear in court July 18, 2022.

Weapons & Breaches

On July 16, 2022, at 3:00am, Belleville Police attended an address on Foster Av. in regards to a disturbance involving a knife.  Police spoke to witnesses who advised that the argument was over a parking spot in which one male had brandished a knife.  Police located the suspect in question, a 21-year-old Belleville resident who was found to be in breach of two of his court orders.  The accused was arrested and held for a video show cause hearing.  He will appear in court July 18, 2022.

Assault & Domestic Assault

On July 16, 2022, at 1:02pm, Belleville Police attended the Palmer Road area in regards to a disturbance.  It was reported to police that a 47-year-old male passenger in a taxi had poured hot water over the cab driver.  Police found an adult female passenger in the taxi as well who reported to police that she had been assaulted by the male passenger, who is known to her. 

Police arrested the male passenger who was from Belleville and charged him with one count of assault against the taxi driver and one count of domestic assault against the female passenger.  The accused was later released and will appear in court on August 29, 2022. 

 Weapons Call

On July 16, 2022, at 7:45pm, police received reports of a male on Bell Blvd. brandishing a large knife.  Police attended the area and located the suspect.  The investigation revealed that the male suspect did not have a knife but in fact was carrying a survey rod.  No charges were laid. 

Warrants

On July 17, 2022, at 9:30pm, Belleville Police were in the area of North Front St. when officers observed a male who they knew had outstanding warrants for his arrest.  The officers stopped the suspect and confirmed that there were two warrants outstanding for break & enter, mischief, theft under $5000 and fail to comply with a probation order. 

Belleville resident, 35-year-old, Bruce Cooney was arrested on the outstanding warrants in which all charges are before the courts.  The accused was later released and will appear in court on August 18, 2022.
