Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 221 calls for service over a 72-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on the 8th of July, 2022, to 5:00 am on the 11th of July, 2022.

Assault and Mischief

On the 8th of July 2022, members of the Belleville Police were called to an east-end address regarding an assault.  Once on scene, it was learned that the male suspect had barricaded himself in the basement. Members of the Belleville Police Emergency Response Unit, K9 and Negotiators were able to safely bring the male party into custody. As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old Belleville, Ontario, man is facing charges of two counts of assault, two counts of mischief, failing to comply with a probation order and pulling a fire alarm. The male party was released from custody with a court date of the 11th of August, 2022.  The male’s identity is being withheld at this time to protect the victims’ identity.

Uttering threats, Fail to comply with release order

On the 7th of July 2022, members of the Belleville Police Service commenced an investigation into threats made to an adult female by her ex-boyfriend. As a result of the information provided, reasonable grounds were formed for Uttering Threats. On the 8th of July 2022, the suspect male, a 30-year-old Belleville, Ontario resident, surrendered himself to the Belleville Police. The male faces charges of uttering threats and failing to comply with a release order. The accused was held for a bail hearing on the 9th of July 2022. As this is a Domestic related incident, the name of the accused is not being released to protect the victim’s identity.

 Traffic Enforcement

On the 9th of July, 2022, Belleville Police observed a woman holding a cell phone while driving near Dundas Street West and Sidney Street Belleville, Ontario.  The car was stopped and investigation showed there was no insurance for the vehicle.  The driver became enraged and attempted to drive away from the officers.  A 23-year-old Belleville, Ontario woman was arrested and has a September traffic court date. There were no injuries.
