The Belleville Police Service responded to 86 calls for service from June 30th, 2020 at 5:00 a.m. to July 1st, 2020 at 5:00 a.m.

Disturbance, Breach of Probation

Belleville, ON – On June 30th, 2020 at approximately 1:15 p.m., city police were dispatched to the area of College Street and North Front Street regarding a naked female beating up on a male.  When officers arrived on-scene, they located the female who is known to them.  The investigation revealed that the female was in breach of her probation and was taken into custody.  The male involved in the incident did not sustain any injuries.  The 27-year-old accused female was held in custody and will appear for a Show Cause Hearing scheduled for July 1st, 2020 at 11am to answer to two counts of Breach of Probation. 

Drug Possession / Identity Fraud

Belleville, ON – On June 30th, 2020 at approximately 8:30 p.m., city officers along with members of the Belleville Police Drug Unit stopped a vehicle on Sidney Street in the area of Casscade Boulevard.  Two females and two males were found in the suspect motor vehicle.  Police located drugs in the vehicle in plain sight while they we were speaking with the occupants.  All four suspects were arrested on scene and transported to the Belleville Police Service.  Police seized the suspect vehicle. 

35-year-old Justin McMahon of Belleville, 29-year-old Kristal Burke of Gananoque and 33-year-old Michael Cornwall-Goddard of Belleville were all charged with Possession of a Controlled substance – Fentanyl.  All three were released on their own recognizance and are scheduled to appear in the Belleville Ontario Court of Justice on August 10th, 2020 to answer to their charges. 

The fourth female, a 26-year-old Belleville resident, was held in custody on six different charges.  Those are as follows;

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance – Fentanyl
  • Identity Fraud
  • Breach of Recognizance – Four Counts

The female suspect will appear before a Provincial Court Justice for a Show Cause Hearing scheduled July 1st, 2020 to answer to her charges. 

 Assault

Belleville, ON – On June 30th, 2020 at approximately 10:15 p.m., city police were called to a business downtown on Front Street in regards to an assault complaint where a female had bitten another female.  When police arrived, they found that the suspect had shown up at the business to serve court documents to the victim at which time an argument ensued an led to the suspect biting the victim on the back of the shoulder.  City EMS was dispatched to the scene and treated the victim at the location with minor injuries. 

A 55-year-old Belleville woman was charged with one count of assault and is scheduled to appear in the Belleville Ontario Court of Justice on August 13th, 2020 to answer to her charge.  The suspects name is not being released to protect the identity of the victim. 

Damaged Pole – Motor Vehicle Collision

Belleville, ON – On July 1st, 2020 at approximately 2:30 a.m., police were dispatched to the East Riverside Park regarding a single motor vehicle colliding with a Hydro Pole snapping it in half.  The vehicle was severely damaged and had to be removed from the scene via recovery tow services.  City crews were called out to the scene to make the area safe with the downed wires and debris.  There were no reports of power outages.   

The lone 26-year-old male driver escaped the incident without injury however, he was charged for Carless Driving contrary to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.
