The Belleville Police Service responded to 49 calls from January 29th, 2021 at 5:00 a.m. to January 30th, 2021 at 5:00 a.m.
Arrested for Threats
Belleville, ON – On January 29th 2021 at 10:38 a.m., police were called to the Shopper’s Drug Mart on Sidney Street for a report of a man who had committed a theft-related act. Police were notified that the man had been escorted out of the store after this incident by security. He was also trespassed from the property as a result. The man returned to the location a short time later, threatening to burn the store down. Police arrested Quinte West resident David Jeffrey Reid, 28 years of age, and charged him with uttering threats to destroy property, and operating a motor vehicle while prohibited. Reid was taken into custody and released shortly after on an undertaking with strict conditions with a first court appearance date set for March 11th 2021 at 9:00 a.m.
Stolen Trailer
Belleville, ON – On January 29th 2021 at 2:40 p.m., police were called to a University Avenue address for a report of a stolen trailer during the night. Further investigation revealed the trailer to have actually been taken on January 22nd 2021. It was located by its GPS tracking system, first to a location in Mississauga Ontario, and then later in Guelph, Ontario. The investigation is continuing as city police continue to work with the Guelph Police Service on the recovery of this property.
