The Belleville Police Service responded to 41 calls for service from January 23rd, 2021 at 5:00 a.m. to January 24th, 2021 at 5:00 a.m.

Assault with a Weapon

Belleville, ON – January 23rd, 2021 – 8:00 a.m.

City police were dispatched to a residence on College Street East in regards to an unknown disturbance.  Information was received regarding a combative altercation with someone suffering from possible stab wounds.  City EMS attended with police and on scene found a male with a stab wound to the stomach.  The victim was transported to Belleville General Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. 

The accused, 18-year-old Dylan Dumont of Belleville was taken into custody on scene and charged with one count of Assault with a Weapon.  The accused was later released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in court on February 18th, 2021 to answer to his charge. 

Aggravated Assault

Belleville, ON – January 23rd, 2021 – 1:00 p.m.

City Police were dispatched to a residential complex on Bleecker Avenue regarding reports of a male striking two other males with a baseball bat.  City EMS attended the scene as well. 

Numerous other officers attended the scene looking for the suspect.  Officers were given a description and continued to check the area while EMS treated both male victims.  Police located the suspect in another unit within the complex and took him into custody. 

The two adult male victims were re-routed to Kingston General Hospital with serious head injuries.  Belleville Police secured the scene for a number of hours while members of the Criminal Investigations Branch and the Forensic Unit processed the scene. 

The accused, a 25-year-old male from Belleville was transported to the Belleville Police Service and is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a Show Cause Hearing on January 24th, 2021.  The accused is facing two counts of Aggravated Assault.

Break, Enter & Mischief

Belleville, ON – January 23rd. 2021 – 6:00 p.m.

Belleville Police were dispatched to a residence in the south east end regarding two suspects breaking into the house through a side door.  Police arrived on scene to catch the suspects in the act.  The suspects were found to be two young people, a female and a male who were already reported to police as missing youth. 

The 16-year-old male was charged with one count of Break, Enter and Mischief Under $5000 and the 14-year-old female was charged with one count of Break & Enter.  Both youths were released into the custody their parents and will attend court on February 16th, 2021 to answer to their charges. 

Breach of Probation

Belleville, ON – January 23rd, 2021 – 11:30 p.m.

City police conducted a vehicle stop on Cannifton Road with regards to some traffic act violations.  The investigative stopped revealed that the driver was in breach of one of his court probation orders.  The accused was arrested and transported back to the Belleville Police Service. 

The accused, a 26-year-old Belleville man was charged with the following criminal and provincial offences;

  • Breach of Probation
  • Driver Operate Motor Vehicle without a Licence
  • Owner Operate Motor Vehicle with No Insurance

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on January 24th, 2021 for a Show Cause Hearing to answer to his charges.
