Assault

Belleville, ON – On January 22nd 2021 at 9:17 a.m., police were called to a business on Pinnacle Street for a report of an assault which had taken place earlier.  An investigation revealed that on the day prior, a 30-year old man was allegedly assaulted by a 43-year old man, causing a minor eye injury to the victim.  Witnesses informed police that this was an unprovoked attack.  The investigation into the matter is continuing, and charges are pending.  Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this to please contact investigating officer Cst. Theft Arrest

Belleville, ON – On January 22nd 2021 at 9:59 a.m., police were called to a north-end shopping location for a report of a theft.  Police were given a description of the suspect, along with the allegation that he had stolen items of merchandise from within the store.  The suspect attempted to elude security, leaving without paying.  He was located quickly outside by police.  Arrested, and charged with theft – under five thousand dollars was 33-year old Bruce Franklin Cooney of Belleville.  He was transported to the Belleville Police Service and later released on an undertaking to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on February 18th 2021.

Arrest Warrants Executed

Belleville, ON – On January 22nd 2021 at 11:02 a.m., police patrolling in the east end of the city came across a wanted female.  This investigation revealed the female was wanted by city police on charges of - possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and assault with a weapon.  These charges were the result from an earlier investigation which was concluded in November of 2020.  Police arrested 25-year old Katie Ann Skinkle.  The city woman was transported to the Belleville Police Service where the warrants were executed.  She was released shortly after on an undertaking to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on February 18th 2021.

Assault, Mischief, and Breach Charges

Belleville, ON – On January 22nd 2021 at 10:34 p.m., police were called to a disturbance at a north-west home in the city.  An investigation revealed that an unwanted man in the home had thrown an object through a window, breaking it. The man also reportedly assaulted the homeowner.  Police arrested and charged 24-year old city man Brandon Paul Trumpour with assault, mischief – not exceeding five thousand dollars, and failing to comply with a probation order.  He was transported to the Belleville Police Service and later released on a Form 10 undertaking with strict conditions, and a mandatory court appearance set for the Ontario Court of Justice on February 25th 2021.

Liquor Arrests

Belleville, ON – On January 22nd 2021 at 6:38 p.m., police were called to the Foxboro Veterinary Hospital on Ashley Street for a report of an intoxicated female.  The 37-year old city woman was located, arrested, and charged for being intoxicated in a public place.  She was transported to the Belleville Police Service, and processed on the charge.

On January 23rd 2021 at 1:45 a.m., police were called to the Bridge Street East area for a report of an intoxicated female.  The 32-year old city woman was located, arrested, and charged for being intoxicated in a public place.  She was transported to the Belleville Police Service, and processed on the charge.

Both females in these occurrences were arrested for their own protection as well as for the protection of others in the immediate areas.  Both were released from police custody once sober with provincial offences notices
