Belleville, ON – On February 22^nd, 2022 at 10:06pm Belleville Police responded to a disturbance at a residence on Strachan Street.  On scene, officers were notified that a 29-year-old male had left the residence a few minutes prior to them showing up.  Police were further advised that the male left the residence carrying a rifle.  Officers quickly located the suspect on Moira Street W. and observed the male carrying a rifle case.  The rifled was found in the case.  Matthew Westfall of Belleville was arrested and charged with Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm.  Police seized the firearm and later released the accused on his own recognizance with a court date of March 24^th, 2022. 

Narcotics

Belleville, ON – ON February 23^rd, 2022 at 12:20am Belleville Police conducted a traffic stop on Dundas Street E. of a vehicle in relation to Highway Traffic Act equipment violations.  The investigation revealed that the passenger of the suspect vehicle had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.  The continued investigation revealed further drug offences as the accused was found to be in possession of an undisclosed amount of methamphetamines, cocaine, heroin and prescription medications as well as a large amount of cash.  The accused was taken into custody and charged with seven counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and one count of Possession of the Proceeds of Crime.  The accused, a 33-year-old Belleville man was held in custody and will appear in court this morning, February 23^rd, 2022.
