Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 71 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on the 30^th of November, 2022, to 5:00 am on the 1^st of December, 2022.

Extortion

The Belleville Police Service is currently investigating an extortion case involving a minor. A young person shared some intimate images on social media with someone they believed to be of the same age. Once the young person decided to stop sharing the intimate photos, the person threatened to share the images to a public forum unless they continued to cooperate. Police would like to remind everyone to be mindful of whom they share personal photos and educate young persons on the importance of internet safety.
