Possible Scams

Over the last week Belleville Police have received a number of calls in regards to people attempting to purchase items over social media platforms. The victims report that they are sending money for the item, as a deposit, or purchase price, and then not getting the item that they paid for. The best practice would be to arrange to see the item and then pay for it. Also, arrange to meet the seller if possible in a public place. Most Police Departments, including the Belleville Police Service, have an area where the exchange can safely  take place.
