Belleville Police Service responded to 65 calls for service from the 20th of August 2020 at 5:00 a.m. to the 21st of August 2020 at 5:00 a.m.
Shoplifter
Belleville, ON – On the 20th of August shortly after 1:00 p.m. police responded to Canadian Tire with regards to a 61-year-old female shoplifter. Police investigation resulted in the Belleville resident being charged with committing a prohibited act on private property under The Trespass to Property Act and being trespassed from the store.
Motor Vehicle Collisions
Belleville, ON – Police took 7 reports of motor vehicle collisions in the past 24 hrs, the majority of which were reported through The Belleville Police Service’s collision reporting centre. One of the accidents was a fail to remain involving a vehicle which struck a cyclist at the intersection of Bridge St. E. and Dufferin Ave then fled the scene. The cyclist suffered minor injuries that did not require medical attention. Police advise that the vehicle involved is being described as a pick-up truck, possibly a Ford or a Dodge, metallic blue in colour with possible front end damage from the collision. Arrest on Warrant
Belleville, ON – On the 20th of August shortly after 11:00 p.m. police responded to a disturbance call on Cedar St in the city’s west end. Shortly after arrival police learned that they held an arrest warrant for a male who was on scene for assault. The warrant stemmed from a domestic incident on the 9th of August. The male was arrested on the strength of the warrant and transported to The Belleville Police Service where he is being held for show cause hearing on the 21st of August.
