Belleville Police Service responded to 67 calls for service from the 12th of August 2020 at 5:00 a.m. to the 13th of August 2020 at 5:00 a.m.

Assault with Weapon Charges

Belleville, ON – On the 12th of August 2020 at 8:20 p.m. Police responded to the area of Purdy Street in Belleville regarding a male who, just prior to the call, assaulted a female. Police attended the area and an investigation ensued. As a result of the investigation, Police established grounds for a 23-year-old Belleville man for Assault with a Weapon, 2 counts of Assault, Pointing a Firearm, Threats and Breach of Probation. A short time later Police located the male in the area and an arrest was made. The 23-year-old male was transported to the Belleville Police Service where he was lodged into cells and held for a bail hearing.

Serious Motor Vehicle Collision

Belleville, ON – On the 12th of August 2020 at 1:05 p.m. Police responded to a serious motor vehicle collision in the area of Dundas Street West and Wallbridge Loyalist Road. Police attended the area and conducted an investigation that revealed a single motor vehicle left the roadway to avoid a collision, striking a residence. There was significant damage to the residence and the vehicle; injuries were serious but not life threatening. Passengers were safely extricated and treated at Belleville General Hospital for their injuries. The at fault driver was charged and issued a Provincial Offences Notice under the Highway Traffic Act for Turn Not in Safety.

Theft Resulting in Charges

Belleville, ON – On the 12th of August 2020 at 7:10 p.m. Police responded to two businesses on Millennium Parkway regarding a theft. Police attended the area and conducted an investigation that revealed a male and female had stolen items from two separate businesses. The male and female were located in the area of the businesses and identified as 23-year-old Belleville man, David Reid and 28-year-old Belleville female, Jackie Bloor. David Reid was arrested and charged with Theft and Possession of Stolen Property; Jackie Bloor was arrested and charged with Possession of Stolen Property. Both were released from the scene on Appearance Notice’s where they were given a court date of September 17th 2020 to face the charges.

City Police also report a fairly steady 24-hour period ending at 5:00 a.m. on August 13th   2020.  Police did respond to several incidents that ended peacefully with Police intervention. Those incidents included numerous noise complaints, disturbances, domestics, suspicious persons and vehicles, traffic complaints, neighbour and family disputes, animal complaints, and calls to assist ambulance.
