The Belleville Police Service responded to 61 calls for service from April 4th, 2021 at 5:00 a.m. to April 5th, 2021 at 5:00 a.m.
Arrest for Breach of Release Order, Obstruct Police, Breach of Probation
Belleville, ON – On the 4th of April 2021 at 8:30 p.m. Police, while travelling in the area of Dundas Street West and Applewood Drive, located a male who was involved in a traffic stop earlier in the night. Police stopped the male and conducted an investigation. During the investigation, the 34-year-old Trenton man was providing a false name to Police, who were quick to determine the male was lying and obtained the true identity of the male. The investigation revealed that the involved male was breaching two of his previous Release Order conditions and breaching his probation. The male was arrested for the three breaches and Obstruct Police. Upon searching the male incident to arrest, Police located a Controlled Substance on his person, and he was subsequently arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance. The male was transported to the Belleville Police Service where he is being held for a bail hearing.
Arrest on Warrant
Belleville, ON – On the 5th of April 2021 at 12:15 a.m. Police, while on general patrol in the area of Strachan and North Front Street, located a male known to them to have an outstanding warrant. The 31-year-old Belleville male, Jesse Sturgess, was arrested on the strength of the outstanding warrant for failure to attend court after being released from bails on a previous warrant. Mr. Sturgess was transported to the Belleville Police Service where he is being held for bail.
City Police also report a fairly steady 24-hour period ending at 5:00 a.m. on April 5th 2021. Police did respond to several incidents that ended peacefully with Police intervention. Those incidents included numerous noise complaints, disturbances, domestics, suspicious persons and vehicles, traffic complaints, neighbour and family disputes, animal complaints, and calls to assist ambulance.
