Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 65 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on the 27th of April, 2022 to 5:00 am on the 28th of April, 2022.

Warrant

On 27 April 2022, at 11:20am, officers observed a male who they recognized walking on Station Street. The male, 35-year-old Michael Bird of Belleville, was known to be wanted for theft. Officers stopped Bird and arrested him on his outstanding warrant. He was later released with a court date of 26 May 2022.

Fraud

On 27 April 2022, at 6:40pm, police took a complaint regarding a rental property fraud. The complaint placed an ad on Kijiji looking for a rental in Belleville. The complainant received a response to the ad, and after a conversation took place, a deposit was requested to secure the lease. The complainant sent the deposit via email, and shortly after, he was unable to contact the person who he sent the money to. The complainant checked the address he was supposed to rent, and it was not a legitimate rental property. The investigation is continuing.
