The Belleville Police Service responded to 70 calls for service between the 25th of April 2020 at 5:00 a.m. and the 26th of April 2020 at 5:00 a.m.

Mischief

Belleville, ON – On the 25th of April 2020, at approximately 11:56 a.m., police officers were called to a downtown business regarding a male urinating in their lobby. Officers attended and arrested the male for mischief and breach of probation. Forty-Three-year-old Picton man, Mark Ferguson, was later released on a Form 10 with conditions. He was given a court date of the 28th of May 2020.

Criminal Harassment

Belleville, ON – On the 25th of April 2020, Belleville officers charged a 49-year-old Picton man with criminal harassment. The original complaint was made earlier in the year, and after a lengthy investigation, it was determined that the male was repeatedly contacting the victim through social media, e-mail, text messages and repeated phone calls. The male was released on a Form 10 with conditions. He was given a court date of the 25th of June 2020.

Impaired Driver

Belleville, ON – On the 25th of April 2020, at approximately 7:53 p.m., police observed a vehicle that was driving erratically between Sidney Street and North Front Street. Police stopped the vehicle on North Park Street and approached the female driver. Officers quickly ascertained that the female driver was heavily intoxicated due to the consumption of alcohol. She was arrested for impaired driving and taken to The Belleville Police Service where she provided two samples of breath that were more than double the legal limit. Thirty-Six-year-old Virginia MacDonald of Belleville was charged with driving while impaired and drive while over 80mgs. She was given a court date of the 9th of July 2020 to answer to the charges.

Warrants

Belleville, ON – On the 26th of April 2020, at approximately 12:37 a.m., OPP turned over a male to The Belleville Police Service who was wanted on a warrant for a breach of recognizance dating back to 2018. Fortunately for the individual, the warrant was endorsed. As a result, 43-year-old Andrew Chapman of Quinte West was released on a Form 10 with a court date for the 9th of July 2020.

Trespass at Night

Belleville, ON – On the 26th of April 2020, at approximately 12:17 a.m., officers came across a suspicious vehicle parked in a driveway of a residence in the north end of the city. Further investigation revealed that two males had taken a dryer from the residence and loaded it onto the vehicle. Two males were subsequently arrested for trespassing at night and being is possession of property obtained by crime.

The first male, a 42-year-old Belleville man, was arrested for trespassing at night, possession of property obtained by crime and three breaches of recognizance. The male was held for a show cause hearing on the 26th of April 2020.

The second male, a 41-year-old El Dorado man was released on a Form 10 charged with trespassing at night and possession of property obtained by crime. He was given a court date of the 9th of July 2020. Although he was released by Belleville Police, he was transferred into the custody of Centre Hastings OPP since he had several outstanding warrants to his name for various offences.
