Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 281 calls for service over a 96-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on the 15th of April, 2022 to 5:00 am on the 19th of April, 2022.

Arrest on Warrants

On the 14th of April, 2022 at 2:55 p.m. Belleville Police, while patrolling the area of Front Street Belleville, Ontario observed a male known to them to be wanted on outstanding warrants with the Belleville Police Service for Break & Enter, Mischief Under x2, Theft Under and, Fail to Attend Court. Police arrested the thirty-seven-year-old Belleville male, Dustin BARNETTE, and transported him to the Belleville Police Service where he was later released with a court date of the 5th of May 2022.

Disturbance

On the 17th of April, 2022 at 3:30 am Belleville Police were called to an east-end apartment building regarding a disturbance.  Officers arrived on the scene and located a male who did not reside in the building and was causing issues with tenants.  The thirty-eight-year-old Belleville, Ontario resident was arrested and charged with engaging in prohibited activity on the premise.  He was released on a Provincial Offences notice.

Theft of Motor Vehicle

On the 17th of April 2022 at 1:00 am, a citizen walking in the west end of the city observed a vehicle in the parking lot of a business whose horn was sounding intermittently. The citizen felt this was suspicious and contacted the police. Belleville Police officers arrived on the scene and located a male who did not own the vehicle in the driver’s seat.  Further investigation revealed that the male had damaged the steering column and was attempting to start the vehicle to steal it.  The male was arrested and also found to be on a current probation order.  As a result, thirty-nine-year-old Matthew Brant of Deseronto was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, mischief, and breaching his probation order.  He was held for a bail hearing on the 17th of April, 2022.
