The Belleville Police Service responded to 70 calls for service between April 15th, 2020 at 5:00 a.m. and April 16th, 2020 at 5:00 a.m.
Attempt Theft of Vehicle – Arrest made in the Act
Belleville, ON – On April 15th, 2020, at 10:39 a.m. police observed a male attempting to steal a vehicle in the East end of the City. Police intervened and stopped the male from driving away with the vehicle. An investigation ensued and police identified the thief as 26-year-old Belleville male, Cole Robinson. Mr. Robinson was arrested and charged at the scene with Attempt Theft Over $5000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Breach of Release Order x2, Breach of Probation and Breach of Undertaking x3. He was transported to the Belleville Police Service where he was released on an Undertaking and given a Court date of July 9th, 2020 to face the charges.
Disturbance Resulting in Charges
Belleville, ON – On April 16th at 2:38 a.m. police were called to a disturbance in the North East area of the City. Police learned that, just moments before the call, a male had broken into a residence assaulting the home owner. Police quickly arrived on scene and located the suspect male who was immediately placed under arrest. An investigation revealed that the suspect male was 31-year-old Belleville resident, Shawn Hiddleston, who caused significant damage to the victim’s front door of their residence. There were no injuries sustained as a result of the assault and Mr. Hiddleston was not known to the victim. Shawn Hiddleston was arrested and charged with Break and Enter, Mischief, Assault, Breach of Probation, Weapons dangerous and Possession of a Controlled Substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Mr. Hiddleston was transported to the Belleville Police Service where he was to be released on an Undertaking and given a Court date of July 9th 2020 to face the charges.

Belleville, ON – Police are urging Belleville residents to be aware that if your phone lines suddenly become inoperable, or your number becomes rerouted to another residence, contact your phone provider and bank immediately as it may be a sign that your system has been hacked. This notice is to prevent the possible loss of funds or any other form of personal identity.
