Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 69 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on the 9th of November, 2022, to 5:00 am on the 10th of November, 2022.

Road Rage – Fail to Remain

On the 4th of November 2022 at 2:30 pm, Belleville Police were dispatched to the area of 34 Dundas Street East Belleville, Ontario, regarding a Road Rage - Fail to Remain collision. Investigation revealed that a 24-year-old male had exited his vehicle and struck the driver of another vehicle several times in the face. After striking the driver, the male returned to his vehicle and began to flee the scene. While doing so, the 24-year-old male struck the vehicle in front of him and behind him. The assaulted male was taken to Belleville General Hospital for medical treatment and later released. Witnesses at the scene provided information that led to identifying the suspect. As a result, 24-year-old Justin Helm of Belleville, Ontario, was charged with the following:

  1. Assault Causing Bodily Harm
  2. Dangerous Operation of a vehicle
  3. Driving While Under Suspension- Highway Traffic Act
  4. Fail to Remain- Highway Traffic Act

Helm was later released with a court date of the 29th of December, 2022.

Suspect in MVC located by BPS K9

On the 9th of November 2022 at 7:25 a.m. Police responded to a business at Wallbridge Loyalist Road and Highway 401 to assist the OPP regarding a Motor Vehicle Collision that occurred at the business. The driver of the motor vehicle fled the scene on foot and was later located by the Belleville Police Service K9 Unit and members of the Belleville Police Service Emergency Response Unit. The 19-year-old male was turned over to the OPP for them to continue with their criminal investigation.

Assault with a Weapon

On the 9th of November 2022 at 5:15 p.m. Belleville Police responded to the area of Hastings Drive and Dundas Street East Belleville, Ontario, regarding a domestic. Police investigated and determined that a 57-year-old Belleville, Ontario, female had gotten into an altercation with a male at the residence and had inflicted minor cuts on the male with a small kitchen knife. As a result, the female was arrested for Assault with a Weapon and transported to the Belleville Police Service, where she is being held for bail on the 10th of November, 2022. As this is an intimate partner-related incident, the accused’s name is not being released to protect the victim’s identity.
