Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 76 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on the 25th of July, 2022, to 5:00 am on the 26th of July, 2022.

Intoxicated at Fire Station

On the 26th of July, 2022, at 1:00 am, the Belleville Fire Department contacted Belleville Police and reported a highly intoxicated male in the lobby of their headquarters. Officers arrived and located a 35-year-old male Belleville, Ontario resident. The male was highly intoxicated and arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. He was transported to the Belleville Police Service and held until he was sober enough to care for himself.

Police Pursuit / K9 track

On the 26th of July, 2022, at 1:36 am, Belleville Uniform Patrol officers noticed a van and trailer near a closed business on Maitland Drive, Belleville, Ontario. Officers stopped and noticed that the van had a fake paper license plate.  Police briefly spoke to the driver before fleeing in the vehicle towards Highway 401.  Police followed the vehicle but discontinued the pursuit for public safety reasons.

A short time later, officers observed the vehicle on Frankford Road in Quinte West, Ontario.  With the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police, a spike belt was deployed, and the vehicle was disabled just north of Frankford, Ontario. The Belleville Police K9 Unit and the Emergency Response Unit conducted a track for several kilometres without finding the suspect.  Investigation revealed that the van and trailer were stolen from the Toronto area earlier this month.  The investigation is ongoing.
