Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 58 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on April 03, 2024 to 5:00 am on April 04, 2024.

 

Break and Enter results in multiple charges

On the 3rd of April at 7:24am, a homeowner called the Belleville Police Service reporting that a male suspect had just kicked open the door to his residence and then threatened him with a knife.  Officers responded to the west end residence however the suspect had fled prior to police arrival.  After a brief search of the area, the male was located in his residence and refused to cooperate with police.  As a result, the residence was contained by police which included members of the Belleville Police Emergency Response Unit and K9 team.  Trained negotiators also attended.  After brief negotiations, the male surrendered peacefully without any further incident.  As a result of the investigation, a 24-year-old Belleville man was charged with two counts of uttering threats, two counts of assault with a weapon, assault, mischief and break and enter.  The male was held for a bail hearing.

 

Identity Fraud

On the 3rd of April at 7:18pm, the Belleville Police Service received a called from the Quinte Mall Security regarding a male who attempted to purchase a cell phone with false identification.  Officers responded and located the male in the parking lot.  Further investigation revealed the 21-year-old male from Toronto was also on a Release Order with conditions which he was not following.  The male was subsequently arrested without incident.  Upon a search of the male, he was found to be in possession of fraudulent identification documents.  As a result of the police investigation, the male was charged with three counts of breaching his Release Order, possession of identity documents purporting to be another person and identity theft.  He was held for a bail hearing.
