Looking to identify
Belleville police are looking to identify a man believed to be in his 30s who attempted several times Tuesday to convince a 12-year-old girl to get into his vehicle for a ride.
The incident occurred shortly before 8 p.m. in the area of Jackson Avenue and May Street when an unknown male in a white sedan pulled up alongside the girl, who was walking home, and repeatedly requested she get into his vehicle.
The male’s attempts continued until a couple walking by noticed and told him to leave the girl alone.
The male is described as being in his 30s, having an accent, being of South Asian descent and driving a white sedan with dark rims.
A short home security video clip of the vehicle was provided to police with an image of the vehicle, however a licence plate was not obtained.

Attempted break-in
Officers were dispatched to a business on Bridge Street East shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday morning for a report of an attempted break-and-enter.
Unknown suspects broke the rear window of the business, however failed to get into the establishment.

Shoplifter trespassed
A 39-year-old woman with no fixed address was banned from a Bell Boulevard store after she was caught stealing items, Tuesday.
Police attended the store at 8:20 p.m. after store security advised she had left the location without paying for merchandise.
At the request of the store, the female was charged with trespassing and released.

In addition to the number of calls for service police responded to, there were also 15 911 hang-up calls officers had to investigate.
