Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 95 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on May 09, 2023 to 5:00 am on May 10, 2023.

 

Careless use and storage of a weapon

On the 9th of May 2023 at 10pm Belleville Police were called to a west end residence after an upper level tenant had observed a firearm being loaded by the lower tenant within their building.  Officers arrived on scene and evacuated the upper tenants.  Responding officers were able to speak with the heavily intoxicated basement tenant who eventually exited the residence peacefully and without any further incident.  Following the arrest, officers located a loaded shotgun and two handguns which were not properly stored within the residence.  The firearms were seized and a 72-year-old Belleville resident was charged with unsafe handling of a firearm and unsafe storage of a firearm.  The accused was held for a bail hearing. 

 

Theft of Scooter

On the 8th of May 2023 at 5:10pm, Belleville Police attended a North Front Street retirement residence after a mobility scooter was reported stolen from the building.  On the following day, the 9th of May 2023, an off-duty officer observed the scooter parked at a North Front Street business.  Shortly after, a male was observed riding the scooter and he was arrested.  Further investigation determined that it was the same male who stole the scooter on the previous day.  Beau Williams, 33 years old of Belleville was charged with theft under $5000 and released on an Undertaking with a court date in June 2023.

 

Arrest – Theft of ATV

On the 4th of May 2023, a Thurlow resident reported their 2020 Yamaha Grizzly ATV stolen sometime overnight from their driveway and there were no suspects.  A Thurlow resident came forward with information advising that they had observed a male well known to them riding a similar ATV on the 4th of May 2023 at 5:55am not far from the area of the ATV theft.  Police received further information that the stolen ATV was being stored at an address in Thurlow.  The continued investigation identified a resident who had video footage of the suspect riding the stolen ATV as well.  As a result of the police investigation and public assistance, 39 year old, Jonathan Daynard of No Fixed Address was arrested and charged with theft under $5000.
