Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 75 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on April 18, 2023 to 5:00 am on April 19, 2023.

 

Fraud

On Tuesday April 18, 2023 shortly before 7:00 p.m. officers were called to an east end apartment building for a report of a fraud.

Earlier in the afternoon an unknown male contacted an elderly female indicating he was a police officer and needed a large sum of money to get her grandson out of jail. The male attended the complainant’s apartment and received a large sum of money.

Investigators have collected video and are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect.

He is described as a male between 25 to 35 years of age, 5’4”-5’6” tall, slim build, black hair, darker skin and wearing dark clothes.

Warrant arrest

A 46-year-old man wanted on warrants by Belleville police was arrested earlier this week.

Around 9 p.m. Tuesday police received information the male was in town and at a west end address. Officers attended and arrested Wade Hannah, 46. He was released with a May court date.
