Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 83 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on April 12, 2023 to 5:00 am on April 13, 2023.

Mischief and Weapons Dangerous - Arrest

On April 12, 2023 at approximately 11:45pm, Police responded to a downtown apartment regarding a male that caused mischief to the victim’s apartment door and destroyed the victim’s Ring doorbell camera. When officers arrived on scene they spoke to the victim who advised they barely knew the male who caused the damage to their door and Ring camera.  Police were able to view the recorded video footage from the Ring camera and learned that the suspect broke the camera using a fire extinguisher and then pulled out a large knife and began stabbing the victim’s apartment door numerous times. Police were able to locate and arrest the male a short time later sleeping on a nearby roof top.  A 44-year-old Belleville man was charged with mischief under $5000, weapons dangerous and breach of probation x2. The male was held for a bail hearing on the 13^th of April 2023.
