Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 81 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on March 28, 2023 to 5:00 am on March 29, 2023.

 

Arrest on Warrant

On March 28, 2023 at 11:08 am police attended an address on Bridge St E in regards to an unknown person sitting on their front porch. Police attended and located the male who was still on the porch.  Investigation revealed the 46-year-old male of no fixed address was wanted by the Belleville Police for failing to attend for fingerprints. He was arrested and held for a bail hearing on 29 March 2023.

 

Theft

On March 28, 2023 at 3:33 pm police attended at a business on Sidney St in regards to a theft.  A 31-year-old male of no fixed address left the store with merchandise that was not paid for. The male was stopped and police were called. The property was recovered. The store management decided to trespass the individual rather than lay charges.

 

Intoxicated Female – Arrest

On March 28, 2023 at 8:02 pm police attended in the area of Dundas St W near Potter’s Creek regarding a call for service.  Upon arrival, police spoke to the complainant who is a local taxi cab driver.  Police learned that a 34-year-old female of no fixed address had requested a ride to a local church however she was refused access.  The female then requested a ride to Potter’s Creek.  Upon arrival, the female indicated that she was going to the water to “end it all”.   The concerned driver contacted police. Police attended and located the female by the water’s edge. She had already discarded most of her clothing into the bay. Police spoke to the female and determined that she was intoxicated. She was arrested for public intoxication and transported to the Belleville Police Service for her safety. She was later released on a Provincial Offence notice.
