Public Awareness

The Belleville Police Service would like to again make the public aware of an ongoing scam where the victim receives a phone call from someone pretending to be a family member in trouble. The suspect, posing to be a relative, requests that the victim send them money to help them get out of trouble, typically stating they need the cash to get out of jail. Be vigilant if you receive a call of this nature, as it is probably a scam. For more information on possible scams, visit the website or contact the Canadian Anti Fraud Centre.
