Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 66 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on the 8th of March, 2022 to 5:00 am on the  9th of March, 2022.

Dangerous Operation

On the 8th of March 2022 at 8:30 pm, Belleville Police began receiving multiple 911 calls regarding a black Jeep Wrangler driving erratically throughout the city.  The callers reported the Jeep was travelling at high rates of speed, driving in the oncoming lane of traffic and failing to stop for traffic lights.  Officers located the Jeep travelling on North Front Street Belleville, Ontario and confirmed the vehicle was driving erratically and travelling at excessive speeds.  Officers attempted to perform a traffic stop but the driver refused to comply continuing to endanger the public travelling at speeds well over 100 km/h.  Officers called off any attempt to stop the Jeep due to the safety of the public.  Shortly after officers observed the Jeep pull into the front lot of the Belleville Police Service, but as the officers attempted to block in the Jeep it drove at the officers narrowly missing them.  Shortly after leaving the lot the Jeep struck a cement light pole and continued a few more blocks before coming to a stop.  As officers attempted to arrest the female driver she resisted but was quickly taken into custody. As a result, a 29-year-old female from Belleville, Ontario was arrested and charged with the dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from a peace officer and resist peace officer.  The female is being held for a bail hearing on the 9th of March 2022.  No injuries were reported.

Collision

On the 8th of March 2022 at 940am, Belleville Police responded to a motor vehicle collision in the east end of the city.  Police and Ambulance attended to the scene and both of the involved drivers were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.  As a result of the investigation, one of the drivers was charged with failing to stop at a stop sign.
