Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 60 calls for service for the 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on the 14th of March, 2022 to 5:00 am on the  15th of March, 2022.

Domestic assault

Belleville ON- On 14 March 2022, at 10:20am, police received a call from a woman stating that a friend had disclosed to her that her husband had hit her several times the night prior. Police located the female who advised that she had been assault. The female was taken to Belleville General Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, and the male was located a short time later and arrested. A 57-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with one count of domestic assault. He was released and will appear in court on 11 April 2022. His name is not being released to protect the identity of the victim.

Arrest on warrants

Belleville ON- On 14 March 2022 at 11:40pm, police attended a Turnbull Street address regarding an unwanted person. Police were advised by the complainants that the unwanted person was 34-year-old Cynthia Newnham of Belleville who was also wanted on outstanding warrants for fail to attend for fingerprints and fail to attend court, public mischief, false alarm of fire, fail to attend court, and fail to attend court. Newnham was arrested and transported to the Belleville Police Service where he is being held for bail on 15 March 2022.
