Intimate Partner Violence
On July 1, 2026, at 5:18 p.m., Belleville Police responded to a residence in the city’s east end regarding a domestic dispute.
Upon arrival, it was reported that a male and female had been involved in a verbal argument earlier in the afternoon while driving. The situation escalated with the female acting erratic inside the vehicle. She attempted to grab an item from the male driver’s hand, resulting in a cut to his arm. It was further reported that, once the parties returned home, the female struck a television, causing it to shatter.
As a result of police investigation, a 26-year-old Belleville woman, was arrested and charged with:
- Assault – spousal
- Mischief – domestic
She was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in August.
Threats
On June 29, 2026, Belleville Police responded to a residence in the city’s west end regarding an ongoing dispute between roommates in a rooming house.
Officers were advised that tenants had been experiencing continued issues with a male tenant. Police spoke with all parties involved and directed them to remain separated within the residence.
On June 30, 2026, police were called back to the same residence regarding a further dispute. Upon arrival, officers reviewed video footage that showed the male making a threatening gesture and pointing toward a female tenant.
As a result of police investigation, David Gomes, 51-year-old Belleville man, was arrested and charged with:
- Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm
He was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in September.
