The Belleville Police Service responded to two collisions Friday night within an hour of each other which both resulted in impaired driving charges.  Single motor vehicle collision leads to impaired driving charge On the 8th of February at approximately midnight, Belleville Police responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the city’s east-end. Information was learned that a vehicle had left the highway and sheared off a hydro pole. Officers attended the scene and through investigation identified the lone occupant. The 17-year-old male driver from Belleville was believed to be impaired by alcohol.  He was subsequently arrested for impaired driving. Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 101 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on February 5, 2025 to 5:00 am on February 6, 2025. Attempted purchase of vehicle using fraudulent documents On the 3rd of February a local car dealership contacted the Belleville Police Service after employees became suspicious after a customer was attempting to purchase a vehicle over the phone using what was believed to be fraudulent identification and banking information.  Members of the Criminal Investigative Division continued the investigation.  On the 5th of February at 4:00pm, two suspects attended the dealership in person to complete the purchase.  Police attended and arrested the individuals without incident.  As a result of the investigation, a 61-year-old male and a 31-year-old male both from Quebec were charged with fraud over $5000, identity theft, personation and utter forged documents.  Both males were held in custody

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 63 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on February 4, 2025 to 5:00 am on February 5, 2025. Arrested on Warrant On the 4th of February at 3:42pm, members of the Belleville Police Community Resource Unit were conducting general patrol in the downtown core. The CRU Unit located 38-year-old Sherri Lynn-Tremblay of no fixed address who was currently wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for failing to attend court. Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 66 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on February 3, 2025 to 5:00 am on February 4, 2025. Abandoned Vehicle On the 3rd of February at 10:53pm, Belleville Police attended Wilkie Street in the west end of Belleville for a suspicious vehicle. An abandoned vehicle was left running in drive with the alarm going off and no occupants in sight. The ensuing police investigation revealed that the plates were altered and unattached to the vehicle. The vehicle was towed and the plates were seized pending further investigation. Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 78 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on January 30, 2025 to 5:00 am on January 31, 2025. Traffic Collision On the 30th of January at 4:43pm, Belleville Police, Fire and EMS were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Dundas St. West at Sidney St. One of the drivers was transported to Belleville General Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. All lanes were open to traffic shortly after 5:00pm. The collision is still under investigation with possible charges pending.
