Possession of a weapon

On the 16th of September at 6:00pm, Belleville Police were called to Bridge Street East and George Street regarding an intoxicated male who was brandishing a knife.  Officers arrived on scene and located the male in possession of large hunting knife.  It was learned the male had been intimidating residents of the neighborhood while being aggressive with the knife by waving it wildly and slashing and stabbing objects.  The male was found to be heavily intoxicated and was arrested.  It was learned that the male was currently on probation for assault with weapon charges with one of his conditions being to keep the peace and be of good behavior.  As a result of the investigation, a 26-year-old Arden resident was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and failing to comply with a probation order.  The male was held for a bail hearing

Police Pursuit

On the 16th of September at 9:00am, a member of the Belleville Police Traffic Safety Unit was on patrol and attempted to stop a vehicle while in the city’s east end.  The driver initially refused to stop however after a short pursuit the vehicle pulled over.   The driver was arrested without further incident.  As a result of the investigation, a 23-year-old Shannonville resident was charged with driving a vehicle with no valid permit, disobeying a stop sign, driving while under suspension, careless driving and failing to stop for police.  The driver was released on a summons with a traffic court date in October.
