Intimate Partner Violence

On October 1, 2026, at 8:41 a.m., Belleville Police responded to a residence in the city’s west end regarding a domestic dispute.

Upon arrival, it was reported that a verbal altercation had occurred between a male and a female. The male left the residence but returned a short time later and kicked open a closed door, causing damage. Police also learned that during a previous incident, the male had threatened the female.

As a result of the investigation, a 39-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with:

  • Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm
  • Mischief

He was held for a bail hearing.

Criminal Harassment Involving Youth

On September 23, 2026, Belleville Police began investigating a report of harassment involving youth.

It was reported that a male youth had repeatedly communicated with another youth through social media and text messages. Over the course of several weeks, the communications became increasingly threatening. During the investigation, police learned that the male youth had shared images of himself with a firearm while making threats toward the victim.

As a result of the investigation, on October 1, a 16-year-old Belleville male, whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Uttering threats
  • Criminal harassment – repeatedly communicate
  • Criminal harassment – threatening conduct

 

He was held for a bail hearing.

Impaired Driver

On October 2, 2026, at 1:19 a.m., Belleville Police responded to North Front Street regarding a report of a suspected impaired driver. It was reported that a male was observed entering his vehicle after consuming alcohol.

Officers located the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. While speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment

As a result of the investigation, Timothy Jones, 60-year-old Quinte West man, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg.


He was released on an Undertaking with a court date in November.

Belleville Police Service Acknowledges Passing of Peterborough PSD Gryphon

The Belleville Police Service is saddened to learn of the passing of Police Service Dog Gryphon of the Peterborough Police Service.

We extend our sincere condolences to PC Dillon Wentworth and all members of the Peterborough Police Service. Gryphon served his community with loyalty, dedication, and courage, and his contributions to public safety will not be forgotten.
