Cyclist struck by vehicle

A young driver is facing charges after a vehicle struck a pedestrian on a busy north end street, Tuesday evening.

Police, fire and paramedics were dispatched to the intersection of Davey Road and Bell Boulevard around 5 p.m. for the incident.

A 35-year-old male sustained what were believed to be serious, but non-life threatening injuries as a result of the collision. The driver remained at the scene.

A 17-year-old Belleville boy was charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian under the Highway Traffic Act.

Held for bail

A 41-year-old Belleville man was held for bail after officers were called to a north end establishment for an incident, Tuesday.

Officers arrived at the business after receiving information the male was possibly breaching conditions of his release in relation to a domestic incident. As part of those conditions, the male was not allowed near the victim’s residence or workspace.

Following an investigation, the male was arrested, charged with breaching his conditions and held for a bail hearing today.

His name is not being released to protect the identity of the victim involved.
