Project Renewal
On 6 November, 2024, members of Project Renewal with the assistance of the Emergency Response Unit and the K9 Unit executed a search warrant at a Front Street apartment. The investigators seized the following items:
- 2 grams of Fentanyl
- 1 gram of Cocaine
- $5005 Canadian Currency (Plus $579 on his person) – Total $5584
- $20 USD
- Digital Scales
- Packaging material
- A Crossbow
- An air javelin (CO2 powered gun that shoots arrows)
- 4 pellet guns resembling real handguns
Matt Cvancic, 35, of Belleville was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl – Sec 5(2) CDSA
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine – Sec 5(2) CDSA
- Proceeds of crime under $5000 – Sec. 354(1)(b) CC
- Possession of a weapon contrary to Prohibition Order – Sec. 117.01(1) CC
Cvancic was held for a bail hearing on 7 November, 2024
Stunt Driving
On 6 November, 2024, at approximately 2112 hours, an officer with the Traffic Safety Unit was observing traffic in the area of College Street East and Airport Parkway. The officer observed a motorist travelling 107km/h in a posted 50km/h zone. The 20-year-old Belleville man was charged with stunt driving and failing to have an insurance card. His driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days, and his vehicle was impounded for 14 days. He given a summons with a court date of 6 December, 2024.
