BELLEVILLE, ON – From April 12 to 18, the Belleville Police Service joins communities across the country in celebrating National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, honouring the dedicated men and women who serve as the first point of contact in emergency situations. “At the Belleville Police Service, our 911 communicators are the initial voice in every emergency and the constant presence behind every call,” said Belleville Police Chief Murray Rodd. “We simply could not function without them. They are an indispensable part of our service, always alert and always ready, providing calm, guidance, and reassurance while protecting lives and supporting officers on the front line.” 911 communicators play a critical and irreplaceable role in public safety. Belleville Police Service Launches Zone Policing Model

BELLEVILLE, ON – In 2026, the Belleville Police Service is introducing a zone policing framework to provide more focused and proactive service across the city. The city has been divided into four zones, developed using comprehensive data analytics, including natural boundaries and call volumes among other key factors. The new model is designed to help the Belleville Police Service better understand the unique priorities and concerns of each area, enabling a problem-oriented approach to policing. By working in defined zones and focusing on specific issues and patterns, officers can develop targeted strategies to address community needs effectively and prevent recurring problems, while building meaningful relationships. To kick off this initiative, the Belleville Police Service will host community conversation tables in each zone. These open discussions provide residents an opportunity to share ideas, ask questions, and help set priorities for their neighborhoods. First Conversation Table Dates: Zone 2: Parkdale Community Centre

Policing, like fire and ambulance services, is a 24/7, year-round necessity. As Belleville grows, so does the demand for increased police visibility, faster response times, and additional services. Some of the needs are expressed by our community, while others are driven by legal obligations that we are required to meet. Safety, freedom, and justice are non-negotiable, but they come with a significant cost. This document offers an honest look at the true expenses of policing in Belleville. It highlights the round-the-clock response, long hours, specialized training, and the investigations that ensure justice and public safety.
