Domestic assault

On 27 May, 2025 at 4:50pm, Belleville Police were called to the downtown core regarding an assault. Police were advised that a witness observed a male assault a female and then push her to the ground. When officers arrived, they found the male on top of the female who was on the ground. The male was immediately taken into custody for assault. Police learned that the two were in a relationship. The female victim was not injured, and she did not require medical attention. A 41-year-old male of no fixed address was charged with domestic assault and breach of probation. The male was held for a bail hearing on 28 May, 2025.

Traffic enforcement

On the 27th of May 2025 Belleville Police were conducting proactive traffic enforcement in the east end of Belleville. An officer attempted to stop a vehicle with plates that were not registered to the vehicle they were on. The vehicle was eventually stopped, and the driver was identified as a 29-year-old male from Shannonville. The driver was found to be wanted by neighbouring police service, and he arrested on the strength of the outstanding warrants.

The male driver was later released and issued three Provincial Offence Summons for driving while under suspension, drive no insurance and use plates not authorized. The driver’s vehicle was impounded 7 days, and the driver will appear in court on 7 July, 2025.
